Miriam College Junior High School (Grade 7-10)

Miriam College Junior High School is dedicated to meeting the distinct needs of pre-adolescent and adolescent learners. Our curriculum supports a gradual shift towards independent learning, combining hands-on, collaborative, and technology-integrated activities to foster growth and development.

Key Features

  • Programs tailored for the developmental phase of students.
  • Opportunities for local and international student exchange programs, including academic benchmarking, cultural immersion, social outreach, and leadership training.
  • Foreign language courses to prepare students for an increasingly interconnected world.

Curricular Offerings

The Junior High School curriculum includes six core subjects and six specialized subjects that collectively build a well-rounded educational experience.

Core Subjects

Our CLE program

Introduces students to the core principles of Christian living, incorporating scripture, doctrine, liturgy, community building, and social action. Integrated with Values Education, it nurtures holistic faith formation and prepares students to become responsible and compassionate individuals committed to personal and community growth.

The English curriculum

Enhances communicative competence and critical literacy through the study of literature—poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama—from the Philippines, Asia, and around the world. Students develop skills as attentive listeners, effective speakers, and insightful readers, equipping them with essential communication and analytical abilities.

The Filipino program

Cultivates language skills and appreciation for literature. Students engage with texts to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, using language as a tool for active participation in society.

This Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies) subject

Builds social science skills through the examination of Philippine, Asian, and global history and culture. Students learn the importance of understanding the past, participating in the present, and preparing for the future as informed citizens.

Mathematics

Instruction focuses on developing a solid foundation and mastery of fundamental concepts. Students become adept at applying mathematical principles, problem-solving, and accurate computation.

The Science curriculum

Emphasizes inquiry, experimentation, and research. Students engage in hands-on activities that foster scientific attitudes and values, enhancing their understanding through guided exploration and project-based learning.

Special Subjects

Music education

Combines theory, history, and performance to refine students' perception and appreciation of music. Activities include singing, listening, composing, and analyzing, fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a love for the arts.

The Art program

Encourages creativity and aesthetic sensitivity, integrating cognitive (head), emotional (heart), and practical (hand) learning. Students develop art skills and use design as a means of problem-solving and decision-making.

Physical Education (PE)

Promotes physical activity as a lifelong pursuit. The program emphasizes health, fitness, patriotism, and safety while teaching fundamental body management and sports skills. Activities encourage sportsmanship and teamwork.

The Health curriculum

Builds a foundation for lifelong wellness by addressing disease prevention, substance use and abuse, health-risk behavior reduction, injury prevention, and nutrition.

Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) introduces

Practical skills and work values. Grade 7 and 8 focus on carpentry, electrical maintenance, handicrafts, dressmaking, and food processing, while Grades 9 and 10 explore advanced cooking and entrepreneurship.

Computer studies

Promote digital literacy and responsible technology use. Students learn to navigate full-featured applications, web design, and desktop publishing. The curriculum also integrates robotics programming to prepare students for future digital challenges.

Miriam College Junior High School offers an education that is both rigorous and nurturing, preparing students for future academic success and lifelong learning.
