The Center of Peace Education Miriam College recently delivered various peace and mental wellness workshops across grades 1-12, facilitated by volunteers from Pax Christi – Miriam College High School, for MC Nuvali’s Advocacy Week last March 18, 2026. The activities focused on teaching peace in ways that were appropriate for students at each grade level, integrating interactive activities such as group discussions, writing, drawing, and games like bingo that will help students understand different peace-related concepts .
Elementary school students from grades 1-2 learned the symbol of the Olive Branch through the story of Noah’s Ark and its significance as a way to understand social connection and kindness through friendship. Grades 3-4 learned the 7 types of wellness and its importance in sustaining a healthy and holistic wellbeing. While grades 5-6 discovered peaceable traits and attitudes that will help them discern productive leadership through social interaction.
The junior high school students from grades 7-10 learned about 5 different peace symbols that will enable them to recognize and appreciate these common symbols through art. The senior high school students from grades 11 and 12 were able to explore positive and negative peace, analyzing it through real-life situations that will encourage them to take action on creating sustainable peace.
The workshops held during the last MCN Advocacy week were able to successfully educate students on the concepts of peace through cultural significance and real-life application. It is important to continue advocating for peace throughout the youth as it will be one step further to promoting a peaceful and nonviolent society.
