The Asian Development Bank Staff Community Fund (ADB-SCF) was founded in 1997 by employees of the Asian Development Bank to support community and livelihood development initiatives in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Dedicated to fostering impactful programs, the ADB-SCF is sustained by generous contributions from ADB staff across 68 countries. Over the past decade, it has established a valuable partnership with Miriam College, providing crucial support to deaf students in both the Higher Education Unit (HEU) and the Skills Development and Technical Education Center (SDTEC). This support includes partial subsidies for essential services, such as sign language interpretation, note taking, tutoring, and materials needed for assessments.
Launched in 2012, the MPTC scholarship program offers full tuition, a monthly allowance, and financial support for internships, board reviews, and examinations. Scholars are also provided job opportunities within the MPTC group upon graduation. Through its subsidiaries, MPTC aims to help deserving students from low-income households pursue careers in Accounting, Engineering, and Education without financial barriers.
NLEX Corporation President Luigi L. Bautista said, “the scholarship program signifies MPTC’s strong desire for public service and firm commitment to nation-building, specifically one that will provide unparalleled opportunities for outstanding students whose personal circumstance might otherwise deny them the chance to study and pursue their dreams.”
Starting in the 2023-2024 academic year, the program expanded to serve more deserving students and include additional partner schools across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Partner schools now include the University of the Philippines – Diliman, Far Eastern University, Miriam College, and several others across the country.
