CANADA ASEAN-SEED SY 24-25

For three consecutive years, Miriam College has proudly received grants from the ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program, funded by the Canadian government. This year, students from the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (SBEA) have been selected for this esteemed opportunity, highlighting their academic excellence and leadership potential. Miriam College’s participation underscores its commitment to academic excellence and international cooperation, enriching educational experiences and fostering global perspectives among its students.Â
The Canada-ASEAN SEED program aims to reduce poverty in ASEAN's developing countries and contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Through scholarships and educational exchanges, the program supports the achievement of all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthens people-to-people connections between Canada and the Indo-Pacific region. SEED scholarships are facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between Canadian post-secondary institutions and their ASEAN counterparts.
 In the School Year (SY) 22-23, two students received grants through Nova Scotia Community College - NSCC and last SY 23-24, two more students received grants through Camosun College. For this year, four students have been awarded grants through both NSCC and Camosun College, reflecting the growing recognition of Miriam College's students.Â
CANADA ASEAN-SEED SY 23-24
​​Aliya Ciel Honrado from the BS Business Administration program and Nice Carlene Junsay from the BS Entrepreneurship program were awarded the prestigious Canada ASEAN-SEED scholarship. This opportunity, designed to strengthen ties between Canada and ASEAN member countries, recognized their potential for significant contributions to their societies. Their selection underscored Miriam College’s commitment to producing future leaders. At Camosun College, Aliya and Nice immersed themselves in a rich academic environment, broadening their perspectives and preparing for the complexities of the business world.
Ma. Cristina Collado recently graduated from Miriam College with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She takes pride in her accomplishments while remaining deeply humbled by the recognition she received. Among her awards and distinctions are graduating Magna Cum Laude, receiving the Excellence in Leadership Award, the Academic Excellence Award for consistently being on the Dean’s List, and the Best in Teaching Internship Award.
Cristina is also a scholar of the Asian Development Bank - Staff Community Fund (ADB-SCF) and Scranton Women’s Leadership Center.
She represents a remarkable group of scholars who have triumphed over numerous challenges. Her achievements exemplify Miriam College's commitment to providing inclusive and equitable quality education for all, in line with #SDG4.
