On its third year, the Philippine National Defense College of the Philippines – Philippine Center of Excellence in Defense, Development and Security partnered with WAGI  for a short course on Gender Analysis of Violence and Security” Theory, Research and Practice on December 13-15, 2023 via Zoom Conferencing Platform. 

The areas that were covered this year include the Gender, Peace, and Security (GPS) Agenda in the UN and ASEAN, queering security studies, gender in the humanitarian space, UN Women frameworks in gender analysis of violence and security, among others—allowing the participants to have a comprehensive overview of the gender approach to security, with a focus on theory, research, and practice (Arinto, M., 2023). 

Dr. Melanie Reyes, Executive Director of WAGI, gave the opening remarks and co-presented the session on Gender Mainstreaming and GEDSI Framework; Prof. Aurora de Dios presented  the session on Gender, Peace and Security Agenda in the United Nations and ASEAN; and Prof. Lorna Israel facilitated the workshop proper.
