HOMECOMING 2024

“Para sa MC” The Grand Alumni Homecoming on September 7, 2024 was held again at the Marian Auditorium (after 4 years). Hosted by MCHS 1999, it drew 800 attendees for a vibrant and successful celebration. Ten (10) distinguished alumni from various fields (arts, education, social entrepreneurship, community work, business..) were recipients of the Amazing Alumni Achiever Award.

FUNDRAISERS

A Bazaar was simultaneously held during the Homecoming and exclusive MMCAA merchandise, including rosary bracelets, umbrellas, and Zarah Juan tote bags delighted alumni. Fundraising soared with the October 11 “Gary V Back @MC” concert, organized with MCHS 1975, evoking nostalgia and joy.

MC Talks

MC Talks: Anything Under the Kalachuchi Tree was also held last April 9 with the title Self-Care for Caregivers with guest speaker and alumna Dr. Michelle Alignay. The talk was so eye-opening on what true self-care really is.

During the second quarter, the first fundraiser was held sponsoring two (2) showings of 9 Works Theatrical’s staging of Rent, Jonathan Larson’s Tony Award-Winning musical last April 19 and May 18. It was a successful endeavor with the team selling 107 tickets. The Jubilarian Batch of High School ‘99 collaborated with MMCAA for MC Talks #2 last June 15. This time it was about “Motherhood and Everything That Comes With It” featuring Iza Calzado Wintle (actor, She Talks Asia co-founder, WWF ambassador and Deia’s mama) and Mia Claravall Reyes (multi-award winning tattoo artist, Chronic Ink co-owner and homeschooling mom of two) as guest speakers. It was heartwarming to hear from both of them that one of the things that made them believe that they could do big things was an MCHS teacher, Mrs. Ednaco, who believed they could succeed in Math even when faced with initial set-backs.

Two more MC Talks will be organized, one on Clarity featuring MC Alumna Pia Nazareno Acevedo, and another on SOGIESC. Check out https://www.facebook.com/mmcaaph for more details.

Other Events

Project MMaria (MARYKNOLL – MIRIAM ALUMNI RESPONSE IN ACTION) delivered vital aid, including financial and medical assistance, typhoon relief, and support for literacy initiatives—contributions extended to the Maryknoll Sisters, Pag-asa sa Pagbasa, and student competition funding.

MMCAA was also a sponsor of the 2024 Amazing Alumni Teacher Award. The awarding was held on the 3rd of December at the Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center. A Christmas gift-giving visit on 17 December to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) gave joy to over a hundred children after receiving teddy bears, hygiene kits, and Jollibee lunch treats. MMCAA’s “MC TALKS: Anything under the Kalachuchi Tree” featured a number of global alumni successes.

The MMCAA International chapters thrived with a new addition, the Australia/New Zealand Chapter nearing completion. MMCAA Manila participated in the Europe Chapter’s pilgrimage trip to Fatima. The US and Canada Chapters continued their sisterhood bonding through various projects.

Preparations for the 2026 Centennial began with plans for a Coffee Table Legacy Book honoring alumni legacies. Operational improvements included digitization and elections for the 2025 Board. Through its FB and Instagram accounts, the Association continued to promote MC, its alumni, and various related projects.
