On December 12, 2023, Ms. Lorna Q. Israel and Ms. Mirma Tica-Ortiz, esteemed faculty members of the Department of International Studies, had a comprehensive briefing session with representatives from the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI).
Cindy A.F. Mandagi and Khanid R. Nova enthusiastically delved into FPCI's overarching mission—to foster a community of international relations adept at offering insightful perspectives on bilateral, regional, and global issues. The FPCI actively engages in a spectrum of impactful activities, ranging from routine forums addressing strategic matters to hosting workshops tailored for youth and young professionals. Notably, they are renowned for orchestrating the largest grassroots foreign policy conferences globally.
Recognizing the alignment between FPCI's objectives and the IS Department's programmatic direction, particularly in areas of student mentorship, leadership development, and interaction with policymakers and political leaders, the meeting culminated in fruitful discussions about prospective collaborations in these domains.
Adding a prelude to the meeting, Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, FPCI's distinguished founder and former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, paid a courtesy call to Miriam College's esteemed President, Ambassador Laura Quiambao-Del Rosario. This encounter laid the groundwork for a constructive and future-oriented engagement between Miriam College and the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia.
