Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (BSEI) will provide students with entrepreneurial skills to transform an idea into a successful business model that will deliver new business value by finding creative and innovative solutions to real-world challenges. This program will develop the student’s creative thinking, innovative resourcefulness, curiosity, open-mindedness, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary and experiential learning capabilities. The program will utilize the entrepreneurial process, applying design thinking from the initial self-inventory phase to the final market launch. The program will engage students in community involvement, immersion programs, workshops, seminars, and exposure trips that will connect their learning to practical applications in actual ventures.

Program Outcomes

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct macro-environmental scanning and industry analysis to identify trends, risks, and business opportunities within specific sectors;
  • Design and implement effective market research strategies to understand customer needs and uncover market gaps for potential products or services;
  • Develop innovative value propositions and position new ventures competitively by integrating insights on customer behavior, industry trends, and differentiation strategies;
  • Apply interdisciplinary knowledge—including financial, operational, organizational, marketing, and sales principles—to create viable and scalable business models;
  • Integrate emerging technologies and digital tools into venture creation and operations to ensure business relevance and competitiveness in a dynamic environment; and
  • Launch and manage a micro-venture, complete with legal registration, operational execution, and a documented performance review reflecting entrepreneurial learning and outcomes.

Key Competencies Developed

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to develop the following key competencies:

  • Prepare macro-environment scan and analysis and identify business opportunities within the industry or sector;
  • Conduct market research on intended customers and identify opportunities;
  • Create innovative value propositions and discover new market positions to strengthen competitive advantage;
  • Create a business model and apply the understanding of new knowledge or new technology with her insights from other businesses. Students should be able to articulate and apply financial, operational, organizational, marketing, and sales knowledge;
  • Prepare technological innovations that will ensure competitiveness and relevance to the ever-changing digital world; and
  • Successfully launch a micro-venture with fully accomplished business registration and detailed business performance review.

 

These competencies can be assessed through a variety of methods, including the following:

  • First Year: Generate and evaluate three feasible business ideas through market research, creativity, and innovation;
  • Second Year: Refine and validate business concepts while developing foundational skills in operations, marketing, and financial planning;
  • Third Year: Create a comprehensive business plan and formulate detailed implementation strategies, including risk management and resource allocation; and
  • Fourth Year: Launch and fully implement the business venture, applying learned skills and strategies to ensure sustainability and growth.
