BACHELOR OF ARTS IN
Global Affairs and Diplomacy
The Bachelor of Arts in Global Affairs and Diplomacy (BAGD) is a unique program that specializes in the analysis of political economic issues and challenges contingent to humanitarian diplomacy. The program, through various theoretical and analytical frameworks, highlights the function of foreign policy, international laws, economic and humanitarian operations, area studies, and diplomatic negotiations.
Why take up BAGD at MC?
Students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for navigating the political and economic landscape at the local and international levels. Students of this course will have a well-rounded appreciation of the nexus between domestic politics or political actors and economic contexts through the use of theories, conceptual frameworks, and methodological concepts from the fields of political science, economics, and law. They will also be responsive to the recent events of emergencies, disasters, crises including pandemics across nations in recent years. The curriculum is designed for students who want to develop their competencies and enhance their skills in preventing and addressing these problems.
What Will I Study?
Courses in the program include:
The course looks into the practical concepts and methodologies of how challenges and opportunities brought about by economic policies and globalization impact on international commerce, production, trade agreements, trade conflicts, trade policy, monetary policy, and business operations.
The course examines the historical, ideological, cultural, economic and political foundations of international relations in Asia and ASEAN. It explores contemporary issues and problems between and among Asian and ASEAN countries.
This course analyzes the convergence of international economy and international politics in the wake of a globalized world. Major theoretical frameworks and analytical concepts are used to understand the interplay between state-market interaction, national interest, transnational governance problems, regionalism, foreign economic policies, and non-state economic actors.
The course aims to provide knowledge of multilateral diplomatic processes in regional and international organizations. It covers the origins of regional and international organizations, their development and impact in the global economic and political economy. It also includes discussion on the historical, ideological, cultural, economic, and political foundations of international relations in Asia and ASEAN.
This course describes and analyzes the relationship of climate change with the elements of health and economy – both direct and indirect effects. It will also dwell on opportunities for strategic actions for adaptation and mitigation.
The course will discuss two distinct but complementary laws in crises. While they are both for protection of life, health and dignity, one is applicable during war and conflict, and the other is applicable at all times.
