On August 28, the Miriam College–Women and Gender Institute (MC-WAGI) participated in the “Second National Convening: Final Launching of the Feminist Framework on Climate Change and Just Energy Transition (FFCCJET)” by the Women’s Legal and Human Rights Bureau (WLB) and Oxfam Pilipinas, held at The B Hotel in Quezon City.
The feminist framework draws from the lived experiences of women and girls in Aklan, Quezon, Samar, Zambales, and Marikina, communities where the impacts of climate change and the current energy transition are deeply felt. Their stories reveal how environmental degradation and shifting energy systems have intensified daily burdens, threatened lands and livelihoods, and widened existing inequalities. At the same time, these accounts highlight the growing collective strength of women who continue to advocate for justice and meaningful change.
The convening brought together women’s rights organizations, civil society groups, national government agencies, financing institutions, international NGOs, and academic institutions. Participants exchanged insights and affirmed their commitments to ensuring that justice, gender equality, and community voices remain central to climate action and policy development.
