On August 20, 2025, 14 students from Soka Women’s College, Japan, completed the Intensive English Language Program 2025.
The IELP is a 40-hour, in-person program held from August 11 to August 20, 2025, providing students with a dynamic environment to refine their English skills. Through lively interactive lessons, engaging conversations with Miriam College Student Buddies, eye-opening visits to MC advocacy centers, and inspiring individual speech presentations, participants immersed themselves in language learning. The IELP classes were led by Ms. Mary Grace Castañeda, Ms. Ma. Rowena Garrovillo, Ms. Katleen Joy Velante, and Ms. Maricel Quinto, MA.
Beyond their classroom activities during their two-week stay at Miriam College, the SWC students had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Grace Favila, OIC-President; Mrs. Cynthia Morales, Assistant to the President; and Dr. Trixie Marie Sison, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, deepening their connection with the college leadership.
The students also put their English skills to the test as they navigated a lively grocery run in search of Filipino snacks and explored the bustling atmosphere of a nearby mall in search of souvenirs.
During the Closing Ceremony, Ms. Yukiko Ishikawa, SWC Associate Professor and the students’ faculty chaperone, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and support of the Language Learning Center Team and the MC community.
Congratulations! We wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors!
