(Quezon City, Philippines – March 21, 2023) Miriam College (MC) will host Woman Up! Passion and Purpose in the Nation’s Service at the Henry Sy Innovation Center on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in partnership with The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Foundation, Inc.
The event will feature talks from six TOWNS Awardees about their career paths and challenges: MC alumna and broadcast journalist Chiara Zambrano; actress and teacher Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo; molecular biologist Dr. Pia Bagamasbad; marine scientist Dr. Laura David; community pantry founder Patricia “Patreng” Non; and women empowerment advocate Jean Enriquez.
The talks will be followed by a breakout session with students from the Miriam College Skills Development and Technical Education Center, facilitated by TOWNS Awardees. Over 100 students from SDTEC are expected to attend the event.
TOWNS Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit, duly registered national organization in the Philippines whose members are awardees of TOWNS’ flagship project, the triennial Search for The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service. The TOWNS Award is given to Filipinas ages 21 to 50 who have shown outstanding dedication, exceptional talent, and careers that have contributed in a positive way to society.
