Our drums program builds strong rhythmic foundations while encouraging creativity and self-expression. Students learn proper technique, timing, and coordination through a wide range of styles – from rock and pop, to jazz and funk. Whether keeping the beat or exploring their own grooves, students gain confidence, versatility, and the excitement of performing as part of a dynamic community.
Glenn S. Velarde
Glenn Velarde, son of renowned jazz drummer Tony Velarde, began his music journey at age 9 with the FEU Bamboo Band and Orchestra, later joining the Philippine Youth Symphonic Band in international performances. After earning his degree from FEU, he has played with top names in Philippine jazz and currently performs with the Gerry Matias Band while teaching drums at Miriam College since 2008. Since 2008, he has been teaching drums at Miriam College, inspiring young musicians through his expertise and passion.
