Four students from Fuji Women’s University, taking English Language and Culture, completed a one-week Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Program conducted by the Language Learning Center on February 15, 2025. The TEFL sessions were conducted by Ms. Lourdes Abad, MA, LPT; Ms. Kornellie Raquitico, MA, LPT; and Ms. Maricel Quinto, MA.
The short but intensive TEFL Program allowed the participants to learn new strategies and techniques for teaching English to junior high and high school students in Japan. On the final day, the FWU students presented their lesson plans, incorporating insights gained from their week-long training.
Although their stay at Miriam College was brief, the FWU students paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Trixie Sison, the Vice-President of Miriam College. They also had the opportunity to meet and converse with MC Student Buddies, who are scholars from first to fourth year of college.
To provide a well-deserved break, the Language Learning Center arranged a one-hour massage for the students to enjoy at the ILAW Center. In addition, the students experienced an afternoon of Filipino food and culture, which included a ride on the Light Rail Transit. While in Marikina, they explored the Shoe Museum, went souvenir shopping at a local market, visited the Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish, and sampled rice cakes.
Congratulations! We wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors!
