As part of its advocacy to strengthen an inclusive and innovation-driven environment, the Miriam College – Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center has actively partnered with the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) in the implementation of the Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD Ph) Program. This national initiative supports returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) by providing pathways toward sustainable reintegration through entrepreneurship.
Recognizing the unique challenges and potential of OFWs, the Center, together with SCALE NCR, is co-implementing a series of capacity-building activities tailored to equip participants with the mindset, knowledge, and skills necessary for successful enterprise development. These activities guided OFWs through the early stages of ideation, business model development, and innovation integration, allowing them to envision and plan viable, purpose-driven business ventures.
Over 200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) from various sectors have participated in two successfully implemented cohorts since the program’s inception. This initiative reflects the center’s continued commitment to inclusive innovation, demonstrating how strategic partnerships and targeted support can empower marginalized sectors to contribute meaningfully to nation-building through entrepreneurship.
