The Miriam College International Studies Model United Nations (MCIS MUN), now under the Department of International Development, Innovation, and Sustainability (IDIS), celebrated its 10th annual conference on November 6–8, 2025, with the theme “One Humanity, Shared Responsibility: Promoting Dialogue and Diplomacy Towards Sustainable Development.”

The conference zeroed in on urgent global challenges—from human rights and artificial intelligence to gender inequality and forced displacement—highlighting how dialogue, critical thinking, and youth leadership are essential to shaping inclusive solutions. Her Excellency Secretary Maria Teresa P. Lazaro of the Department of Foreign Affairs, a distinguished alumna of the BA International Studies program (Class of 1979), served as keynote speaker. She underscored the vital role of young diplomats in advancing global cooperation and reminded delegates to keep human dignity at the heart of all diplomatic engagements.

MCIS MUN continues to build on its legacy, inspired by the vision of the late Professor Aurora Regalado Buncio, founder of the conference and pioneer of Miriam College’s participation in the Model United Nations of the Far West (MUNFW). Her impact endures through the Aurora Buncio Award, presented to top-performing delegations. Delegates from Miriam College Nuvali BEU, Far Eastern University (FEU), and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) also joined this year’s conference, bringing fresh energy and momentum to interschool collaboration.

The MCIS MUN proudly acknowledged the generous support of ISSoc, Radio MC, Chi Rho Publications, and its sponsors—including the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Bangladesh in Manila as Gold Sponsor.

As the IDIS Department enters a new era, MCIS MUN stands firm in its mission to light the path for young leaders who will shape a sustainable world with wisdom, empathy, and deep sense of justice.
