Miriam College’s (MC) overall ranking in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings has risen from 1501+ last year to the 1001-1500 bracket just two years since it became part of the THE Network. The Network is currently comprised of 1646 universities from 116 countries.
For this year, the College scored highest in three Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), namely Gender Equality at 601-800th, Good Health and Wellbeing at 800-1000th, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions at 801+. Notable is its ranking for Gender Equality where it landed 601-800th out of 1095 international universities and 51-79 out of 111 Philippine universities. It scored 100% and 97.7% respectively in the Gender Equality key metrics of Women Receiving Degrees and Senior Female Academics.
The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings measure higher education institutions’ success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals using four core pillars of evaluation: Research, Stewardship, Outreach, and Teaching. For 2026, the Philippines had the most universities in the ranking, with160 institutions participating according to THE.
“Miriam College’s participation in THE Sustainability Impact Ratings puts the Institution in the global stage, allowing itself to be assessed and recognized for its sustainability initiatives while also serving as a step for continually improving its systems and policies to align with international standards,” says Quality Assurance Office (QAO) Director, Maria Louella Tampinco. The QAO spearheads the process of collecting evidences to support the College’s contributions to the United Nations SDGs.
The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings recognition comes at a time when the College is in the middle of its year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary which will run until September 2027. Founded by the Maryknoll Sisters of New York in 1926, the institution is known for its contribution to women’s education through its all-women’s campus in Loyola Heights. It has two other co-educational campuses, MC Nuvali in Laguna and, its newest, MC Alviera which opened in 2025.
