Design

The Bachelor of Design program aims to cultivate individuals who demonstrate creativity, productivity, and professionalism within the Arts and Design field. Graduates will exhibit competence, commitment, leadership, and dedication to lifelong learning within their specialized area of expertise.

The program strives to develop graduates who embody the principles of global citizenship, emphasizing values such as peace, justice, truth, and integrity in their creative endeavors. Through their work, they will contribute positively to local and global communities, fostering inclusivity and ethical practice.

Furthermore, the program is committed to fostering a culture of lifelong learning. Its students will be equipped with the skills and motivation to pursue continuing education opportunities, both within commercial enterprises and academic institutions. They will adapt to evolving industry trends and contribute meaningfully to their respective fields throughout their careers

Program Outcomes

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to   

  • PO 1. Apply knowledge of the theories, principles, tools and techniques in arts and design, in both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms through manual and digital processes using various media.
  • PO 2. Apply acquired knowledge of Philippine culture, history of art and design, ethics, and sustainable concepts and practices in the culminating activities such as the production-based design thesis project, a creative portfolio, and a thesis book.
  • PO 3. Perform the basic functions of art and design management such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling in mounting a design exhibit.
  • PO 4. Work efficiently with multicultural teams in the different aspects of professional industry practice in pursuit of life-long learning.

Key Competencies Developed

The program is designed to develop in its students the following key competencies:

  • First-Year Students: computer-knowledge mastery, creative skills, communication mastery, the value of patience, diligence, respect for history
  • Second-Year Students: critical skills, technical mastery in rendering and design, reflective thinking skills, value of cooperation, trust, selflessness
  • Third-Year Students: observation mastery, strategic planning mastery, the value of teamwork, discipline, dedication to craftsmanship
  • Fourth-Year Students: problem-solving skills, leadership skills, collaborative skills, decision making, mastery of self-concept, self-care, and empathy
