Accounting Information System

Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System program provides general accounting education to students wanting to pursue a professional career in Accounting Information System. The program also complies with the latest competency framework for professional accountants issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Thus, graduates of this program will be qualified to take assessments leading to certifications in Accounting Information System given by global professional Accounting Information System organization.

Program Outcomes

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to     

  • provide a foundation of knowledge, skills, values, ethics, and attitudes that enable students to continue to learn and adapt to change throughout their lives;
  • resolve business issues and problems with a global and strategic perspective, using their knowledge and technical proficiency in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, cost accounting, taxation, and accounting information systems;
  • influence the decisions, actions, and behaviors of stakeholders through the presentation of relevant accounting information appropriate to the circumstance;
  • employ technology as a business tool in capturing financial and non-financial information, generating reports, and making decisions;
  • pursue lifelong learning and continuous professional development; and
  • demonstrate personal pride in addressing issues by applying Miriam College’s Core Values of truth, justice, peace, and integrity of creation.

Key Competencies Developed

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to develop the following key competencies:

  • Apply generally accepted accounting and reporting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) for financial reporting, cost accounting, management accounting, and control.
  • Understand the full transaction cycles and business process of Accounting Information System including its operation, control, and maintenance. 
  • Employ technology as a business tool, knowledgeable in the use of software for financial models, preparing reports and      decision-making.
  • Understand relevant commercial and business laws and regulations, taxation principles, and their application using the information system.
  • Effectively communicate  with stakeholders the results of financial analysis, findings and technical recommendations guided by good corporate citizenship, social responsibility, and ethical practice of profession.

Standard Completion Time: 4 years
