Many years ago, I was blessed to have met this woman who sponsored me through college. We had no connections, but God made a way for me to meet her so that I can pursue my dreams and have a better chance in life. During those years, I would often tell her, “One day, I will pay you back,” to which she would always respond by saying, “I am never asking you to pay me back. But you can choose to pay it forward; you can choose to love and serve.”
That woman who helped me get through college is, in fact, an alumna of this institution.
Today, I have a chance to give to the institution that raised that selfless woman, and I am very thankful for this opportunity. I thank God for blessing me with a daughter, who has been instrumental to my journey home — Miriam College. Although I am relatively new here in terms of tenure – as I am not an alumna and this is just my daughter’s third year as a student – I knew ever since then that there has always been a part of my existence that belongs here.
MC is home in my heart, and this is the home that we want our daughter to grow up in, because we believe in the values that are nurtured here.
