Dripped in Green: A Passion for Slow Fashion
Sustainability is more than just managing food and utilities. It can be a trendy, budget-friendly personal practice. While a modern “Outfit of the Day” (OOTD) can easily cost thousands of pesos, you can build a complete look in a thrift store for less than a thousand. Thrifting is a habit my late mother taught me as a child, and one I proudly continue today.
Thrifting is a vital environmental practice. According to the Philippine Textile Research Institute, the local brand Bayo Manila Inc. alone produces 16 tons of textile waste annually, a staggering figure that doesn’t even account for the massive global waste generated by the “fast fashion” trend from online retailers. To combat this, I promote thrifting and the sharing of hand-me-downs with friends, colleagues, and family.
By embracing these simple habits, we can lessen the Earth’s load and do it in style!
