My Kuwentong MC is about my OJT in the US, wherein my faith in God and devotion to Mother Mary were tested. During the flight, I was very nervous to be away from my family, since I am the youngest child. Upon arrival, I would kneel at my bedside and pray for comfort. Over time, things got better because of the communication and support of MC faculty, blockmates, and higher batches.
During my stay, I developed a passion and love for the Culinary Arts. I was learning something new and was forming a new family with fellow interns and supervisors. Life wasn’t perfect, since I had a hard time being independent, doing chores, and taking care of myself. Then, there was the temptation and peer pressure of underage drinking. Through the prayers and guidance of my MC family, I was able to learn that freedom is also a responsibility. Upon returning here, I became a better chef and a stronger person through a balanced diet and exercise. I also learned when to ask for help from my family, friends, and God when things get heavy. I also gained a newfound love for nature, enjoying and caring for beaches and gardens. I am grateful to Miriam College for this journey and I hope to inspire more students in the future.
