QUEZON CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Academy, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Manila, Philippines and Miriam College-Child Rights Advocacy Center (CRAC), held a Focus Group Discussion last August 17, 2026, at Novotel Manila.
The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) is part of Phase 2 of the project to strengthen the competencies of social workers in child protection. It aims to develop better training modules, assessment tools, and pilot plans based on the real experiences of practitioners.
The FGD sought to:
- Understand the daily realities of child protection workers
- Identify training and competency needs
- Discuss challenges in the field
- Share good practices and innovations
DSWD Academy, UNICEF-Manila Philippines, and Miriam College are working together to make sure social workers are well-equipped to protect and uphold the rights of every child.
The insights from this discussion will help finalize training modules for nationwide use.
