October 1, 2025 marked a pivotal moment, the first step to formalizing a partnership between the City Government of Pasig and the International Development Innovation and Sustainability (IDIS) (formerly the International Studies (IS)) Department of Miriam College. The Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Education, led by the Vice Chairperson Hon. Ryan R. Enriquez led the discussion to formalize the partnership. The committee provided legislative approval and policy support by extending the agreement until 2028 and ensuring that the partnership is a sustained commitment and beneficial to both the City Government of Pasig and Miriam College.
The successful establishment of a partnership with the City Government of Pasig marks a major milestone for the IDIS Department. The subsequent passing of Resolution No. 22-2025– entitled “A Resolution Authorizing The City Government of Pasig Through The Honorable City Mayor, Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto, To Enter Into And Sign A Memorandum Of Agreement Between The City Government Of Pasig And Miriam College To Establish An Internship Program In The City Government Of Pasig, And For Other Purposes” – is especially profound. This official measure formalizes the internship structure, ensuring that the valuable hands-on experience gained during the period is secured and sustained for all succeeding IDIS students and others from Miriam College.
Interning under the LGU of Pasig City was a stroke of fate that led to beautiful memories and continuous learning of social action. As a proud Pasigueño, engaging with the community did not feel like work, but a fervent call to serve the people.
I am proud to have contributed to the first steps of opening the opportunity that signifies a powerful partnership that will allow Knollers to bring meaningful impact to Pasig City.
I am truly grateful to the Pasig City Cooperative Development Office (PCCDO) for the opportunity to turn my passion into public service. Their dynamic programs for cooperatives and deep community engagement are a great source of inspiration, showing student interns how they can become leaders in community development.
Key to establishing this long-term partnership were Ms. Ina Morales and Atty. Dan Christian Ramos from the Office of the City Mayor, who skillfully transformed the initial discussion into a concrete, formalized plan. Equally vital was the Pasig City Human Resource Development Office (HRDO). Their dedication went beyond mere placement; the HRDO ensured students like me were matched with an office where they could both achieve their personal internship goals and make the greatest possible impact on Pasig’s ongoing development agenda.
From Miriam College’s IDIS/IS Department, Ms. Mirma Tica-Ortiz and Ms. Lorna Israel facilitated on the side of Miriam College for the partnership, ensuring the institution’s academic expertise and values were integrated in the partnership agreement to meet the development of students and support the needs of Pasig City.
This partnership truly solidifies the bridge between Miriam College’s academic commitment and the City Government of Pasig’s dedication to public service, paving the way for future Knollers to continue making a meaningful contribution to the community.
